Choosing Baby’s Physician
By Dr. Anna Rakovshik, Pediatrician
This is part one of a two-part series. This month we are highlighting how to choose a pediatrician and next month we will focus on choosing a family medicine physician.
There are many questions parents have before descending on the journey of parenthood. Two that often rank among the top are “Do I need to find a pediatrician for my child?” and “When and how do I begin this search?”
A good place to start is to understand the difference between pediatricians and family medicine physicians. iBirth App (available in the iTunes Store)
Reviewed by Ann Grauer, LCCE, CD(DONA), IBCLC
Recently I was sent information about a new app for the iPhone that was supposed to be so fabulous that it would replace childbirth classes. I bought the app for $4.99 and put it on my phone to see what all the fuss was about (anyone who knows me is aware of my addiction to my iPhone).
There are lists of affirmations and ideas of things to try in labor and a section of lists of prenatal nutrition. And there is an interesting section of videos. I do think that anything we can do to make information more accessible to families is good, but I don't think I'm in danger of being replaced as a childbirth educator any time soon. |
