Introducing Solid Foods

Introducing solid foods to your infant is an exciting and anticipated event for parents. It signifies a very important milestone in your child’s development and is the beginning of many hilarious moments.  
 
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding exclusively for the first 6 months life, however many parents attest that some babies are ready to eat solid
foods as early as 4 months old. All children grow and develop at different rates so it is important to be in tune with your baby and recognize the signs that they are ready for solids. Read More.

I am happy to announce that Columbia St. Mary’s has opened a Perinatal Assessment Center at Columbia Center on the CSM - Ozaukee Campus.  
 
Perinatal is described as the time before, during, and immediately after birth. The Perinatal Assessment Center offers a full spectrum of diagnostic services to assess and treat high-risk moms and babies. Our testing services to monitor the health of you and your baby include:
  • Fetal echocardiograms
  • High resolution ultrasounds (2D, 3D & 4D)
  • Doppler studies
  • Amniocentesis
  • Non-stress tests

Beyond the Baby Blues
 
In the first months after childbirth, your body goes through significant physical and hormonal changes. At the same time, you have new responsibilities, with all the thrills and stresses involved in having a new infant. And during it all, you are probably sleep deprived. It is normal to feel the gamut of emotions, from total joy to being overwhelmed. In fact, most women experience the “baby blues,” mild depression lasting for a few days or weeks after childbirth.
