Diane Oakland earns IBCLC status (11/1/07)

Columbia Center’s Family Education & Support Coordinator Diane Oakland became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant this month.

The prestigious certification for specialists in lactation management requires extensive practical experience in breastfeeding counseling and a minimum of 45 hours of continuing education in lactation, which is completed in three years prior to taking the rigorous certification examination.

With Diane’s certification, Columbia Center now boasts two lactation consultants with IBCLC status (the other is Deanne Lawson) and a lactation counselor (Ann Grauer)
