Vasectomy
Permanent Options — Vasectomy
Vasectomy is the most effective birth control method for sexually active men. It's a permanent, surgical birth control method that causes sterility by keeping sperm out of a man's semen. It does not impact sexual desire or pleasure and does not affect hormones made in the testicles that influence masculinity (beard, voice, sex drive, etc.).
Vasectomy is a low-risk, highly effective permanent birth control measure. After having a vasectomy, it takes about three months for a man's system to be free of sperm. Until then, another form of birth control should be used.
