Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding support whenever you need it.
One of the most asked questions of mothers-to-be is, “Are you going to breastfeed your baby?” Many reply, “I am going to try.” You will be happy to know, most babies are born healthy, able to feed well at mother’s breast, and grow beautifully each day.
Exclusive breastfeeding is the best way to ensure a good milk supply and a baby who is well adapted to breastfeeding. We encourage waiting until your baby is at least 4 to 6 weeks old before offering bottles of breast milk as you prepare to return to a more active lifestyle.
Some babies may need additional help with breastfeeding. Columbia Center’s nurses and lactation consultants are here to guide you every step of the way.
When you return home, our Breastfeeding Helpline is your connection to our Board Certified Lactation Consultants who can answer your questions and assist you with any breastfeeding needs.
